    4300dvd camera help

I would like the camera to be able to work full time since the mirror is useless anyway. I haven't installed it yet. I ran a wire to extend the violet trigger wire for the reverse lights out from the hu because I assumed it will need power to it. Also ran the video RCA so I can hopefully not...

    Dimming a hu more?

I put a pioneer 4300dvd in a car and it's to bright. It does dim along with the interior gauges and things. Just not enough. Can I buy a resistor that will cut the voltage a little more? If so where would a good place to start be? I am assuming there is a formula for how much voltage a...

dead stuck. help me out guys, please!!

The not working properly while running could be vibration from the engine idling or bumps down the road. In other words it could be something like the main wire fuse being split but visibly fine. as it vibrates it could be making connection than not. Same goes for a hot + remote wire could have...

amp goes into protect mode after turned up

May not be an issue today but years ago I had the + and - crossed to a speaker on one channel and hooked up right on the other channel. Would do fine on low volume, turn up and it would cut out. Wasn't any protect mode back then.

dead stuck. help me out guys, please!!

Check power, ground, remote and RCA cables. Most likely a short. Amp on and of rapidly sounds like a remote wire shorting if a known good amp is doing the same.

    Noob needs design equitment help

Just a few things to think about. If you are in a location that has ac hookup. I would recommend a home audio surround sound system. Amplifiers generally have a big amperage draw. In most cases the engine needs to run so the alt can keep the battery up. If you are forced to use 12v. You may want...

    Ipod sound leveling

Come on, no one uses sound leveling software for their iPod, iPhone or iPad? Surely everybody isn't using CDs. Will be good enough if you have a zune or whatever.

    Ipod sound leveling

Any better programs out there than mp3 gain? I am running the default 89 db setting and it is killing the bass on some of the louder songs. I listen to rock/metal, so comparatively there isn't a lot of bass to begin with. Most songs clip at 100db, which is the range a cd is at. So wondering what...

    Trouble shooting a friends ride

A quick way to check the remote wire is just a temporary jumper from the positive to remote terminals.

    Stock subwoofer suggestion

Wouldn't bother with taking it out. The idq can blow through the seat fine.

Sealed or ported box for JL 12 inch W3's?

They don't do either magnificently. If I was stuck with a set I would tune low, corner load and hope for the best.

    need help deciding

The older the car the less amperage the alternator has. In turn the less wattage it can support. As a general guide late 80's to early 90's are 40-95 amp alts. 90's to early 00's are 75-100 amps. 00's to 12's are 85-140 amps. The more amps you have available, the larger you can go with wattage...

Accessory pop, but not your standard problem!

Sub amps have a high amperage draw. They need to maintain a constant voltage to work properly. If you limit the amount of power coming in, it will try to shut down to keep from burning itself up. The issue is a small gauge wire with a component trying to draw a lot of amperage that the wire...

I need ideas for GTO build

2004 Pontiac GTO Photo Gallery Looks like plenty of room for a small sealed, polyfilled 10 on one side. The dayton HO still sounds good in a box as small as .4 ft3 with polyfil. Though they are not known for high output in any box size. A lot of guys port the 10 or go with a larger displacement...

    Tight & Musical subwoofer?

If you have the room I would go with 1 large displacement sub and have it sealed. There are people much better at enclosure building than I that can make a ported sq sub sound very good. I have tried 10 times or so over the years and never made one I liked. They are always a little to boomy and...
