Replacing a transistor in my PPI

My amp died so I opened it up and found 1 fried resistor and one fried transistor. I got the resistor figured out, but the melted transistor has me puzzled. How do I figure out what the specs on this thing are? Anyone with an old PPI 2150 laying around that they would open up and look at the...

    Wanting to get new subs

I just got a PPI 2150M, and I'm not utilizing it's power with my old RF Audiophile 12, and I figure I can fit two tens in the rear deck of my Caddy. My question is, would it be better to run two two ohm subs at 2 ohm stereo 300 watts each, or run two 8 or 2 or two ohm 10's for a four ohm load...

    Old PPI upgrade

I recently aquired a PPI 2150M, but the stock wires coming out of it ****. I don't like splicing, and the speaker wires are anemic. Where can I find a distribution block, screw type like on the newer amps so I can just run my speaker wire to it? Is this going to be hard to wire on the inside...

Utilizing Bose amp in 94 Caddy.

After mulling over buying a 5 channel amp from Ikesound, I decided to keep my old school Orion running my type R comps and my profile running my sub. I do have passengers in the back on ocasion though, so I want to hook up my rear deck speakers. My Caddy has a factory Bose amp, and the factory...

    Orion 280 GX help

Could the small black wire be the ground that connects to the old rca cables or something? In the instructions on my old kenwood, it has a screw that is used for this, although I've never seen a ground on an RCA so what do ya think? Richard

Clearance needed in front of type R 6 1/2?

Well since no one answered me, and in case anyone else needs this info and searches, I'll answer my own question. I would recomend to anyone installing these to provide at least 3/4" clearance in front of the speaker, preferably one inch. Wow, they jump Richard

Alpine SPR-17LS ideal for hip-hop genre music?

I just installed these in my Caddy doors. I have about 70 watts going to them. They produce nice midbase, but the tweets can be a little harsh. My HU is not all that spectacular, but I decrease the tweet level there and it mellows it out, but at some loss to the upper mids. I don't listen to...

    Orion 280 GX help

I just picked this up locally, but it doesn't come with a manual. So What is the small black wire that comes out with the power and ground wire, just plain black wire about ehhh, 14 ga. ? The blue remote is with the speaker bundle. Is this amp bridgeable, and how, and how much rms would it put...

Proper Door Sound Deadening and You

A plexiglass cutting recomendation. Plexiglass is designed to score and break, and it's much easier that way, unless you have compound curves to cut in. All you need is a utility knife and a straight edge. It also grinds well to take off edges and round corners. Does anyone know if the wal mart...

    Front component questions.

How much clearance do I need for the front of the speaker, as measured from the mouting face? Is this what xmax is? I need to figure if I need to cut out some material from my door panel. Thx
