Hello,

I am trying to build a system, but I am no expert here.

I have an Older Alpine SWR 1222D, (Which I think it's 500 Watt RMS),

(Some websites says it's 1000 and some say 250 per coil and I'm not 100% sure what that means)

Assuming it is 500 Watt RMS, I am looking for an amp.

I have an alpine amp but I know it can only run 4 Ohms at 200 Watt RMS,

Is that too low of an RMS for the Sub?

Otherwise I will have to buy an amp, I found this one at my local store:

https://www.visions.ca/product-detail/47049/memphis_mono_500_watts_rms_at_1_ohms_car_amplifier?categoryId=54&sku=SE20001D

So this will give me 500 Watts into 1ohm that I need, but there is no "headroom", is that okay?

I only have a sealed box too, so they say I need more power for this.

Thanks for your help

I dont like to buy perfect matches sub and amp. I like my amps to have room so if i decide to upgrade the sub i dont need to replace the amp as well.

You are looking for a mono amp. I like this one for your needs. I have two of them and they will last you a long time.

and i would wire it like this. that amp will put out more than 400 watts rms at 4ohm. You could also wire it to 1 ohm as long as you set the gain correctly and i wouldnt give it more than 600 watts when setting it with a -10db 40 hz test tone. I would run it at 4 ohm first and see how you like it.

I'm not sure if I wired something incorrectly or there is a problem with the sub but it doesn't sound very loud.

My 200 Watt Pioneer is a lot louder than this 500w Type R Alpine

Agreed. I've used some very fine cable for +REM connections because I had it laying around and have had issues with it failing. Good quality...

That heatsink's shape, color, and plexi bottom is just like the US Amps. I like it.
