Minimum Mounting Depth

Looking to build a box I know the requirements for the sub I want.  My question is how much space should I allow for behind the woofer. I want to make the box as shallow as possible. Is there a rule of thumb like an inch or two behind the magnet.

1 inch is fine, half inch is fine. As long as the rear vent is not blocked completely, you are good.

the port however, does need adequate room. 1/2 the diameter
