Hello,

New member here. Intermediate knowledge, four installs under belt over last 30+ years. Sorry for long intro but I figured I would give as much info as possible. Skip to end to see question.

This current install is a bit different being I'm bypassing my so-called "premium" Alpine 10 speaker system instead of installing an aftermarket HU or adding a Amp interface. Or the third option of just being happy with it which is impossible due to it's atrocious performance.

S20 Ultra as source to
Thunderbolt to
Pass-Through split usb-c to
12v cig usb-c charger to
Thunderbolt to
SMSL dac to
JL Twk 88 optical in to
Three Amps(via rca outputs) to
Four JL C3 5.25/Two JL 2" Tweets/Two Skar 10" in single performance side ported box.

I've got the full install figured for the most part, the custom speaker pod fab was the most difficult. The only stock equipment I had to remove were the front door speakers. Thankfully the door panels are a breeze and the carpet/seats don't need to be fully removed to run cables/wires stealth. I only soundproof trunk and front doors, rear doors to if I decide I need some low sitting midbass which is unlikely.

Actual Questions-

Q:Can I run a separate 1/0 from alternator + to the main car battery + which is in trunk, secondary battery sits above it in a custom tray.

Q:Could I just run the 1/0 to the secondary battery + instead?

Obviously both agm batteries will be connected in parallel.

In my 2011, from the alternator the stock power cable is running 8 gauge into firewall then above passenger wheel well cover and back into the car under glove box. There are a couple of wires along with the 8 gauge that then connect into a single thicker gauge and that runs to main battery+ in trunk.
My main goal being to avoid that entire stock setup and go to either the + of the main or more preferably the + of the secondary.

Q:There is a second fusebox in trunk and I've heard some replacing the power wire that comes off the main battery + to the fusebox. Any point to that?

Request:If you have a dual battery setup please post how you securely attached them in parallel. I think I can get away with 4/0 being everything is so close in the trunk and according to wire gage calculator. The main battery is group 94 new Duracell. Secondary battery is a XS D3400 new also. Similar enough specs to go dual but that damn main has the worst posts hard or impossible to add a block to make it simple.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Run it to the secondary battey with a fuse ~18" from the alternator and ~18" from the battery. Run a jumper to the primary battery. Find a solid grounding point and sand it clean. Connect secondary ground to it.
Has the engine ground been updated?
By "jumper" you mean the parallel connections from + to + and - to -?

Yes engine to frame is 1/0 now and I of course will send both batteries negatives to a fresh ground area. Not sure if sending my amps negatives to same ground as batteries is a good idea but I'm going to try.

Got it figured out!

Thankfully a friend just found out about KunKonceptz UBT-20 terminal adapters that allow multiple connections to my type 94 recessed main battery post. Problems solved. Now I can just run new 1/0 from alternator to adapters and the parallel connections to along with anything else.

Thanks one person(1aespinoza) for at least replying.

Usually one uses Toslink because it is optical for superior sound. RCA wiring offers at least CD quality signal transfer.
