Got bored today and figured I would try building my first ever box. I should have my db500 some time next week, so I thought I might as well get the box finished.

No table saw here, just a circular saw. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Turned out better than I thought, although I still have yet to cut out the hole for the sub. There are some areas that need touching up tomorrow, including some caulking where the port slabs meet the top inside the box...

Oh yeah, and it's 2.5 cu ft tuned to 32 hz.

Looks like a very nice box for your first try.

Thanks guys, I tried.

Yeah an automatic nailer would have most definately made things a tad faster. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Cheapo countersink bit would have been nice, but box looks solid for a first attempt. Screws will NOT hold the box together though, that's what glue is for. A screw every 4-6" would have been fine...

Titebond 2 or gorilla glue makes a bigger diff than a lot of screws, like someone mentioned a screw every 3-4" with the right glue and youd be more sturdy. but nice build!

I wanted to make sure it was sturrrrrdy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Cut way back on the screws; the wood glue is more than capable of holding the box together and putting more screws actually can make it weaker by splitting.

The most sturdy enclosures I have built don't include a single screw.

Your enclosure is looking pretty nice for a first build!

haha, hey it holds up... thats all that matters right!!

Nice build, lets see some pics when it finished including sub, and install. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah another reason I used all the screws is because I don't have box clamps....so to get a nice tight fit I had to use alot of screws.

Like I said I still have some areas to work on, including sealing up the inside and filling in some gaps on the inside of the box.

Thanks for the feedback guys. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You don't need to use many screws even if you don't have clamps. Now if your cuts aren't all that square (if you weren't using a guide I guess) then I could see maybe an extra screw or so. Before I had clamps, I would use two screws per panel even when the panel length was greater than 35".
