Alpine CDA-9886 USB Port compatability with Iphone 5

Hi

I just purchased a cda-9886 and am currently waiting for the wire harness to arrive in order to hook it up to my vehicle. I am wondering if the usb port would enable me to play music by using my lightning pin connector cord and running my iPhone 5 through it. If I could get some replies as soon as possible, I would like to purchase the AUX adapter if that isn't the case.

It should work. It basically treats it as an iPod when plugged in. However there's always that chance that it doesn't work... Someone should come along who knows more.
