computer power supply?

Since a compter power supply puts out 12 volt DC, do you guys think that I could use a power supply to run my amp? Its an MA that SAYS it does 200x2 at 2ohms, and how big of a power supply would i need? Thnaks for any help..John

No, the computer power supply can't even power a hu properly (tried before). If I'm not mistaken, the pwoer supply makes about 3~5A ont he 12V, i think.

If you want to power car audio products at home, then get yourself a dedicated power supply, no two ways around it, if you ask me. Even battery chargers are supposed to emit noise into the system.

A GOOD computer power supply will put out anywhere between 20-25 amps max on the 12V line, however its gonna cost a good amount to purchase one.

my 300w seventeam SAYS 180w for my 12V, and max of 15A. Still didn't work.

That is most likely a cheaper power supply, i have never even heard of or seen that brand. Anything like an Antec, TTGI, PC Power and Cooling, Enermax, or Thermaltake will put out a good amount more power.

er, seventeam is the same price as enermax. Also, seventeam are the OEM mftrs for zalman power supplies.
