Dodge 4-disc changer help!!!!!!!!

I recently purchased a new factory in-dash 4-disc changer for my Dodge Intrepid, to replace one that was not working properly. Upon connecting the changer to my OEM AM/FM stereo, the lights flash on and off and I get an "error" on the display. Can anybody help me?!?!?!?!

Well, unfortunately I bought my car used and it is no longer under the factory warranty. So if I took it in, they would charge me **** near $500 for a new unit.
