Electrical Issue...Need Help

Whenever I turn up my music loud, my component speakers cut out when my subwoofers play low notes. Also the subs don't hit as loud as they should be. This happens on songs such as Put On, White Girl, pretty much any song with lower bass notes. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

Take a DMM and measure the voltage at the amps power and ground inputs while playing some music. If your voltage is dropping heavily, it will send your amps into protect mode. This is almost surely the issue. Report back with what you find there and I will help you further.

lol a UCF fan. what is the world coming to... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Your subs and amp are seeing this with the volume cranked?

Yes the volume was cranked.

Not a voltage issue. That is rock solid if it is staying above 14.0v //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Maybe something is wrong with the amp or my battery is starting to die. I'll have plenty of time to figure it out over spring break.
It should not be a battery issue if your voltage is as solid as you stated. It is likely an internal amp issue or a speaker wire shorting out when the bass hits.

or he doesnt know how to measure the voltage at the amp and its not at 14v like he thinks it is

thats my guess
I can only go by what he tells me. If he thinks his measurement is good, then it can't be a power issue. If he is unsure of his measurement, then he should say so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The reading I took is correct. I know how to use a DMM. After my test this afternoon I'll check out the speaker wire to make sure that's not the issue. I'm starting to believe it's an internal problem with the component amp. Maybe there was a reason I got it for free...the last guy that had it was retarded when it came to car audio.
