hardwire oscope ?

Hey all,

Just curious has anyone tried to hardwire an oscope ?

I just bought a dso nano and was thinking why not run the probe in the truck. then I could see when im about to clip and at which notes. if not for experimenting purposes for cool factor, more screens the better right. lol

ill have to do some research to see if using a test cord that long would have any adverse effects on the oscope.

anyone know where to get a 35' oscope probe lol.

USB cables aren't good ideas for scope outputs.

a twisted pair of 16awg would be fine

but the scope needs to be set for a time range, so you won't see everything well, and the music moves WAY to fast for you to even recognize clipping.

a more useful tool is an RTA with peak hold. an RTA will also identify clipping - harmonics skyrocket with clipping.

or just a simple clipping indicator. clipping creates harmonics. any tonal noise on the output of the amp that is higher in frequency than the LPF, and not a result of the signal, is the result of clipping. that's the detector i should make - a remote indicator of clipping that wires to the output of an amp.
