is there a way to make all music files sound the same

I can't take it anymore. When I play songs from my Sony Mp3 player, some songs have the right level and some don't. Does anybody know of a program that will filter all of the songs to play at the same level ?

Foobar has a ReplayGain option, but I don't know if it works for MP3 files as well, never bothered to use it.
