Almost every waking hour i spend on my baby....stripping off the old paint...getting her ready for her new suit. I thought there would be alot of rust on her since she is 26 years old now--81 Cutty--but the more paint i strip the more clean american steel i find. Anyways, this is still early in the process for a worklog but i just had to post some pics. Enjoy!!
In the pics....you can see that i stripped the vinyl top due to popular demand
I also removed the bottom chrome rocker panels due to the rust buildup under them
Removed rear 1/4 windows to completely remove paint/remnants of vinyl
removed center trim up the middle of the hood, a little bondo and some sanding=gone
Car will completely naked except for small amount of filler when she gets to the paint booth.
Having the bumper skins dipped and rechromed, also the headlight bezels, and door sill plates.
Due to factory vinyl, i have to go find a rear window trim from non-vinyl car and buy the clips that holds in on. Then must take out back window, drill holes for rivets and rivet the clips in place for new trim.
And all that = new cutty.
