need a quick response about subwoofer out on h/u

at this moment i am installing some new rcas, and about ready to buy a new h/u. I am wondering if i run a short rca from my speaker amp outputs to my sub amp, would the subwoofer crossover on the h/u still be able to work? otherwise i am going to run a seperate rca cable just for the sub amp.

any one have some experience?

No it won't work. You have to run one from the sub-out rca's to the sub amp. The crossover in the deck will only work with those rca's

You have to run direct! The deck will not control your sub amp if you run off of the preamp output on another amp
