im finally gettin a caprice, since im finally gonna have the funds for a new car. anyways, ive never had a trunked car. sooo i got a few questions.

what would i need power wise to get loud. i mean in my explorer it was easy as hell to get loud, but in a caprice, which is supposedly pretty **** sturdy as far as the rear portion of the car (ie back seats) what do i need? im thinking of a few options.

1) 2 15" type r's with either an orion 2500( 2500 @ 1ohm) or a kicker 2500 (2500 @ 2 ohms, but it can go to 1 ohms and supposedly even as low as .5-.7 ohms).

2) 4 12" type r's, with either 2 orion 2500's on them or 1 kicker 2500 (wired to say, 1 ohm)

3) 3 15" type r's, with 2 orion's strapped (i do believe you can strap them right?)

i want to spend a little money as possible, but i CAN do the bigger setups. i just dont want to if i dont HAVE to. i would like to get at least as loud as my explorer (of course loud is hard to describe as i never got it metered). i just dont want to buy 2 15's and the amp and be disappointed cause im not gettin the output i used to have in the explorer. i know this is a general question and its hard to answer but i would like opinons, and hopefully ideas from anyone else that might have attempted this in a similar car.

AND finally, in a trunked car...subs up port back? subs back port back? or what

What I would do is get 2 06 15 L7's and put them in a big sealed box wired at 1 ohm and pushem with a power acoustik A3000DB...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I'd say a nice ported box would do.

I have a trunked car. Subs back, port back is they way they should be positioned for the most output, in general.

I've tried subs front, port front, and wow. They were really quiet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. I've never tried subs up, port back/up and I would like to also know how they would sound.

How big of a box could you fit in the trunk?

well ive seen the trunk of the caprice and its pretty **** big...im down to use the entire trunk for the build. too bad bout those orions not being strappable, wouldnt quite give me the power i want for 3 subs. anyways that was an original idea ( the kicker l7's) but the only turn off is that for 2 15's its 600 bucks and i hear they need a huge box (around 6 cubes each?!). but i can get 4 15's type r's for 800 bucks so thats got some advantage on cone area IIRC and i could push about 6000 watts between them (i know the 15's can take 1500 if my friends 12" can take 1100 daily). for the l7's i highly doubt id be able to push 3k daily to each one so maybe 1500 each, which would cut my power in half //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . from what ive read from sblazer and a few others the type r's are also just a better daily woofer. and my friends 12's sound nice to my ears. any more opinions?? ?

for the homie who said subs up port side...i noticed the tcab guys seem to be pushing that (from what ive seen on the website) and they're pulling good numbers. IF i got 4 woofs id have to have the subs up for the simple fact that 4 15's arent gonna fit straight across...any more ideas on this subject??

BTW how you like your magnum? i still got my old claw basket one that needs a recone, but as soon as i get that ***** reconed im hookin my girl up with a system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . 12" mag with a 1200 maybe 1500 watt amp (that bastard was so nice off ~1300 watts)

in my car, i did sub up and port side... and it got loud. was a 93 cutlass ciera s. RE HC 12 in a 3.5 @ 32 hz off a planet audio p1250d.
anyone else suggest subs up and port side? or other box position
