Ok, I've heard that using polyfill in a small sealed box will make it sound like the box is bigger. But does it also affect power handling?

I put some to fill about half of my ported box and made it sound better I think, but i may just be emagining it.

Small sealed boxes make it harder for the subwoofer to move which it seems like you already know. All polyfill does is reflect the sound wave to make it sound like a larger box. It has nothing to do with the subwoofer mechanics. So beyond the fact that the polyfill is taking up a marginal amount of cubic area within your box you will see no increase or decrease in power handling of the sub.
