static sound from subs

i was fooling around with my wiring yesterday and i hooked up some other subs besides mine to my amp to test them and i rehooked my subs up and theyre making a static like sound... its not like the hum thats described in a ground loop but more like my subs are a mid or high and its on a staticy radio station... any ideas on why its doing this?
