Tweeter to stop carrying Eclipse

I was talking to a salesman at Tweeter and he told me that Tweeter will stop carrying Eclipse because their head units were not flashy enough for the public. He said that Eclipse makes the best sounding decks but the younger customers want the new flashy stuff..

First Tweeter stops selling Kenwoods because of reliability and quality problems and now they'll stop selling Eclipse.. Bummer

They seriously tried pushing Eclipse speakers on me last Summer. They sounded OK but I wanted Boston's. I think his reasoning is bogus - they probably just don't sell very well or have lousy profit margin.

That is far from the truth from what I have heard, the rumours that we heard here in Canada was that Tweeters did not abide by the dealer agreement from Eclipse and Eclipse terminated their status as dealer, this may have even involved repo'ing Eclipse gear that Tweeters may not have paid for yet. This is only rumour so far but for a company to stop selling a line is not based on how flashy a cd player is.

I don't know the details and I doubt a salesman would either but I am surprised that Tweeter will stop selling the Eclipse line. It was the only place that I knew of who sold them.. It will definitely be a blow to Eclipse, and maybe Tweter..

It was more a case of Eclipse protecting their reputation by severing a dealer agreement when the dealer does not abide by it. Sort of like cheating on a police exam and the police knew all along that you were cheating but let you go ahead with your training until one day they come along and say, you know what you cheated and now you are outta here.

Eclipse has awesome margin, so thats not the deal. As far as flashy, if you get enough customers coming in your store that want flashy HUs and you cannot sell them an Eclipse, your in the wrong business. Eclipse is very strict on their rules an regulations, and dont take **** from anyone. Gettting out of tweeter wont be a blow to them, since Fujitsu Ten is the 3rd largest company in the world, i think they will survive.
