wiring amp to Pontiac factory Cd

My friend owns a 98 pontiac Sunfire with the factory cd unit. he wants to put an amp and subs in it. Is it possible to hook an amp up to this head unit with no sub preouts? If so, what will it take?

just hook up the positives and negatives to some speaker wire behind the factory head unit then youll have your sub outs.

these units are sometimes referred to as line level converters. you can pick one up from bestbuy or another retail location that sells car audio (maybe even target or walmart or another superstore like that). you'll just splice into some of the speaker wires in the back of the deck and then connect the rca's to the line level converter. done =)

does it matter if I connect to say front left only? or should I be wiring to both fronts or both backs?
