Yes, I know how to do a military splice. In my application, one of 18 connections requires it. It does not appear that there is adequate room for me to do a good job, but I'll try first with the splice. If I can't pull it off, then its the t tap.

All I need is "good enough" behind the dash where there is not a lot of working room.

Thanks! I wonder why outfits like Crutchfield don't supply them instead of recommending the military splice.

Are there any products that allow one to splice two wires without cutting or soldering in lieu of using the "military splice?"

Thanks. I did figure it out finally, but it took a number of calls to two manufacturers who then supplied definitive wiring diagrams matching old colors to new and explaining where I had to make two "military splices."
