There is a wire between the engine block and chassis, you are upgrading all your wires to a bigger ga. so the electrical current has the same flow. Think of it as a water pipe. If you have a 2 in. pipe flowing into a 1 in. pipe, the rate of flow is cut in half. I hope this helps. Check these...

I don't think it is a cause to worry. If the voltage drops below 11 volts, then I would worry. All that will happen is your battery will dies sooner then normal. When you changed to the 1/0 ga. cable, did you do the same for the other 2 cables. Keep it the same, for a more constant voltage...

If you want more power, get a bigger amp. The "big 3", to my understanding, will decrease the internal resistence, therefore making the voltage drop less. If you upgraded the "big 3" and the battery, and your lights still dims, you might want to consider getting a H.O. alternator.
