Exact reason why I will be mesuring different systems and offered the same oppertunity to Snoop to confirm. How about this for a different perspective on the mic...
Let's say it reads high...like a AC 5 db off of the TL high...would that necessarily matter?
What would matter more for testing is it *consistent*...for $75 you get a high meter but if it's consistent then you are able to accurately judge which setup is louder...
Also if you know how high it consistently reads then you can just subtract from it to approximate your TL score....
Can't beat that for $75.
Point noted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifYou might also want to try connecting it to a couple of different DMMs and seeing how big a difference you get.
Dang you're a nice guy!!When I am done with it I will send it your way if you wish. That way we have 2 sets of tests to conclude tempature and atmosphere differences and changes in the mesurements vs. the termlab.
Done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You know...it wasnt too much so dont worry about the donations.
I will make sure the results are up quick and as accurate as they can.
Good point. I will definatly do this. Thanks for the input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifYou need to do freq response testing vs a termlab
the meter may be peaky //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
try doing 5 hz intervals from 100 to 20 hz first with the termlab and then with that thing
Sounds good to me. I have been by Mac and Jacks a while back. Its right off the port isnt it?Dang you're a nice guy!!
Well maybe if we ever meet someday I'll have to buy you lunch and a beer...ever heard of a local Seattle Brew called Mac and Jack's? Oh man that beer is good!
The brewery is in Redmond (close to Micro$oft)...Good point. I will definatly do this. Thanks for the input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
So have will also be able to test out several ranges of db levels.
130-140db (my truck)
140-150db (a few friends vehicles)
150-160db (our SPL vehicle)
160+db (a friends van)
Should be consistantly the same level difference in db if it is a well calibrated mic.

Yep...I was at the MS office when we left and passed by there one afternoon. The brewery is in Redmond (close to Micro$oft)...

"This beer pours an unfiltered hazy amber color. It has a light head that settles quickly. The smell is malt and sweet with hints of caramel. The taste is sweet and slightly malty with a nice hops blend. The feel is crisp and smooth. This is a great beer. It’s smooth and refreshing with a rich flavorful taste. This beer is only available of tap in the Northwest area. It’s a must if you’re in the area."
Hit me up when you're in Seattle...
I see you're from Dallas...I get over their for training every now and then...
With older Mic's it can be 5-10dB off. Newer ones can be close to Term Lab if you have the K-Factor adjusted correctly. Another reason why they are unaccepted is that you can adjust sensetivity which means you cna fix competitions. Audio controll units also use an actual microphone to measue SPL which is effected by the motion of the windsheild at high SPL levels.how far off is the audio control from the TL? the audio control reads higher correct? oh, snoop did you get my PM about the songs?
If it is, it will be the new forum boner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gifIf that thing is as accurate as the Term Lab I just wasted $425... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
For it to be a viable source of testing you want to have results that are both Accurate and Precise. Audiocontroll is neither. Term Lab is more Accurate and MUCH more precise. With AC, especially a worn one, one day you could do a 150 and the next only do a 145.... Both times youy did a 143 on the TL. So who knows if painting resin in the box actually helped if all you have is the AC to test with. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gifHow about this for a different perspective on the mic...

Other end of the spectrum. Bonors are bassed on shear speculation and what one guy does with one woofer one time. It will be some what of a godsend, some what of an "oh ****" because if it is accurate then buying a Term Lab doesnt offer you a leg up in competition. If it is, it will be the new forum boner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
