Hello there again.

For anyone that's missed the previous thread; i have a sound stream Rubicon 2500d mono block amp. It has recently stopped working.

The amp powers on fine but i have no voltage coming out the speaker terminals.

therefore, i have taken the amp to a electronics repair shop and he has told me that it could need a complete terminal rebuild and it would cost around $170 - $200!.

The amp only cost me $300 or so dollars!

I thought it may be just a blown mosfet or something of that nature??

Can anyone enlighten me and suggest any key points?

How do i know if im not getting taking advantage of? How do i know hes actually going to replace the parts that are "broken".

I feel dishonesty coming from the situation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but i dont have anyone really else to go to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

Thank you.

if that much damage other electronic parts were probably weakened ...so even if you get it repaired the other parts may go at any time...if someone had to rebuild a $300 amp by individual parts it would cost in excess of $800 to replace everything in it...

The repair shop is quite reputable I would believe so.

They are pioneer certified and warranty.

But its just a low budget shop, kinda messy.. run down. the customer service is appalling trying to talk to the techs.

Thats why i dont like it there.

I have only a few photos that i took, that might help. When i opened the guts i did not see anything burnt or damaged, it looked brand new. i looked closely at all the connections, i just couldnt see the other side of the board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Nothing coming from speaker terminals? any popping?

IF their is nothing coming out of the terminals and the power supply side is fine it's likely just some burnt output fet's

They are really easy to test, so I'd start their..

when you take them off be careful not to mess up the VIA's so you don't have to put jumpers on the board.

A dmm and a bit of time you should have an idea of what is wrong, in order to properly test you do need to remove them though.

Let me know anything else you're experiencing, you can pm me and I can help out a bit if youd like to take it on yourself.

Sorry whats DB-R?

I feel like thats the way to go, but its such a huge hurt for me right now. Its only a year old //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I felt like the amplifier puts out good power but i swear the components and just terminals of the amp felt very cheapish, wasn't impressed.

however my system is kinda sound stream based.

Whats a decent amp thats going to push 2500 watts or so at 1 ohm ? But remember i paid $350 USD for the soundstream amp.

They are a respected repair company. Never mind. I just saw where you are. Shipping would kill it

Anything worth getting is always worth it more at a steep discount. Not familiar with that unit, but the brand is great.
