Box depth/ Port width help

Dimensions =

13h x 16w x 17d

Two questions:

1. Is there a rule to the depth? Like a depth to width ratio limit?

2. If I change the port width to 1.25, will port noise be introduced?

The only room I have to play with a little is the depth, unless I change port width from 1.5 to 1.25.

I am befuddled...

depth of box and port width are not relavent to one another. usaully about 15sqin/cuft of port area is good but what sub do you have? are you using any kind of port calculator to get the port length?

Im just using Torres. The box is for an SA-10 d2, powered by an mbq onx1.1000d. The dimensions are tight because its going in a baby shoe sized Chevy Sonic hatch. Im trying to get tuning down to 34hz. The only way I can do that is if I come up to 18" on the depth or close the port width to 1.25 instead of 1.5, then shorten the length. I would much rather shorten the port width if possible.

Thanks for the quick response too btw.

If your about 1.5cuft i would think you would want around 1.75" width. are you trying to avoid making an L port? i would think that 1.25" is not enough- the port is 11.5" high, correct?

I just went back out and re-measured my hatch. I think I will be ok with what I came up with now. I dont know why I was confused lol. Its been a long day I guess.

This should work right?

I could be wrong but since you have sub up port up checked, i think the depth (-1.5) would be the height limit on the port. Otherwise for 11.5 it would be a front, rear, or side facing port.

Atleast thats what i did when I designed my box
