Hi, I just got my Rainbow SLC 265 Kick component speakers in the mail. They're so beautiful and i can't wait to have them installed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

First - The Rainbow kickbass components are going to be powered by a JL 300/2 amp. The manual for the speakers specifically states the following are required:

1)highpass

2)80hz

3)slope of 12dB/Octave

this is the link to the settings on my amp http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps_lineart.php?amp_id=436

What should the freq range and input voltage be at? Also, i would assume both output mode and filter mode should be in the HP setting?

Second - I will be running one JL 10W6V2 sub off of a JL 500/1 amp. What amp settings would compliment the settings of the component mids the best?

As far as the amp goes I have no idea on what to set anything at all. I'd appreciate it if you could recommend settings for as many of the settings as possible.

My HU is a Clarion MAX675VD

I know it's a lot to answer but i'd appreciate any suggestions you can give to help out an audio noob. If there's other information that i need to post please let me know. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'll comment on your new Rainbow components, since I've owned that exact same set before....

You've got it right on setting your crossover at 80Hz High pass. With the JL amps, the input voltage should be the same, regardless, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

I'm not sure what you mean when you ask about 'frequency range', so I need more info on that. The 150 watts X2 that the JL puts out will be a perfect amount of power for your Rainbows.....I ran mine passive at 110w RMS, and then had them running off of 210w RMS bridged power, and they took it without a problem. That's a great set of components for the money.

Just remember that, like the manual says, you'll need a solid 10 hours or more of playing time before you really start to notice a difference in your midbass sound. I've got a set of the Rainbow CMX Kicks that I'm running active, and after 10-15 hours of steady playing time, I noticed a big difference in the sound characteristics of the Kick mids.

Congrats, and good luck with your system! You've made some really nice choices for everything.

for the 300/2...

set the Freq. Range to x1

Filter Slope to 12db

Fliter Freq. to around 80

Filter Mode to HP

Imput Voltage to Low

Input Sens to 24.49v (use this http://subwoofertools.com/forum/setgain.asp)

realm has 0db tones in their download section, use 1khz for the 300/2, and around 50hz for the 500/1

http://www.realmofexcursion.com/

for the 500/1

set the Freq. Range to x1

Filter Slope to 12db

Filter Freq. to around 80

Filter Mode to LP

Imput Voltage to Low

Input Sens to 31.62v

Infrasonic Fliter off

Bass EQ off

on the 300/2 amp there's a freq range option that toggles between x1 and x10. but someone else already said to put it to x1. but thx for the comment and the compliment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I know it's not professional top of the line stuff but it should be good enough for me.

also thx 1,000,000 Nauc for all the info //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no prob..........

and if you through that switch from x1 to x10, it changes the frequency range from like 50-500 to 500-5,000
