Hex screws

When I get my new box I'm planning on using hex screws/bolts to bolt down my sub and amp. Right now I'm using typical black Phillips-head drywall screws.

What kind of screw do I need, what size, and what finish works best for this? Should I drill first with a normal Phillips-head screw and then screw the hex one in?

It doesn't make a hell of a lot of difference. Pre-drill all of your holes, and use screws that're strong enough for the job...

it DOES make a differance if ur sub is foward or back. if its facing up its ok cuz gravity helps out. but if not then it needs to be bigger screws or bolts. i broke 2 drywall screws on one burp the first time i installed my dc level 5 15. thats becuz its 80 lbs and needs big screws to support the weight

for you application "deck mate" wood screws they are grey coated i'll send a dozen with box no worries

but yes when subs get big you need bigger screws or bolts but you will be fine with what i send you

unless you are worried about theft then some kind of security screw is good /but i've seen when the theif couldn't get the sub out he slashed it /so no sub either way lol
