if you're running over 1500 rms please read

My 2500d and 8004 would dimm the piss out of my lights on my 90amp alt.
If you are running a stock electrical system with 1500 + watts, and get no dimming.

You are not really running more than 1500 watts;)
Umm they said they were running a 2500d @ 1 ohm.....I really think that they ARE getting more then 1500 watts.....

 
My electrical:

-Mean Green HO 220 Amp alternator

-Kinetik HC2400 under hood

-Yellow Top D31 in the rear

-Triple 1/0 frame grounds in front (to HC2400)

-Triple 1/0 frame grounds in rear (to Optima d31)

-Triple 1/0 runs to rear batt.

-Double 1/0 from alternator to front battery positive

-1/0 Engine block ground/chassis ground

And that's about it.

I'm running 400 amps worth of alternator. (dual GM largecase)

I have a red top, stock size up front and a YT d31t in the trunk.

Dual runs of 1/0 to the rear battery, direct frame grounds, big 3... yadda yadda yadda...

What's a voltage drop?

 
Im about to install a hifonics 1606d. My last setup i had lots of dimming at idle, and it was 300 watts.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif haha. I hope it was a bad ground or something. I just did the big 3 today. A stock 140a alternator shouldnt dim with 300 watts.

Ummm no. Just because they have a 2500d @ 1ohm, does not meen they are running more than 1500 watts. I could run 100 watts on a 2500d @1ohm.

If your electrical system can not support the amps needed, the amp is not producing it's power.

Lets not even start on how the amp was setup in the first place. 90% of people are not even getting 1/2 the rated power of their equipment...

Also they HAVED stated that they're doing fine so thet're electricals are fine also.....If 90% of the people are not getting the full power of they're equipment then 90% of those peoples cars are all in the shops.....

your hifonics amp is overrated.....it puts out like 1300-1400 rms.....fyi

My past setup had voltage problems I was running a Costco battery and stock alternator (puts out 90 amps I believe) 400 watts rms to high and mids. 850 watts rms to sub. Ran it one night and noticed excessive dimming on the freeway. Amp is now broke.

 
I ran 2200 watts in my Corsica on stock wiring and stock alt and only got hard dimms at stop lights. Corsica had a 110A Alt. If you do a big 3 you might be fine with that, if not go with a alt upgrade. I dont think a battery will help you out without the alt, and with the alt you really dont need the battery, expecially with 1500watts.
