sorry for bad quality on pictures.. but did the same as the door panels I have now.
First cut a piece of wood that fited the lines of the stock panel. And a baffle for the speakers, glued to the wood in the angle you want.
Cut out hole for the magnets, so the speakers fit. Stampled fleece tight over and a good layer of resin
One layer of fiberglass and alittle sanding
Stampled fleece again. Finnish. But remember that if you do the same as this, the dash is very close to where I mounted the tweeters. So if the angle of the baffle is too much, you will have problems with closing the door..
Nice build so far. I to drive an xj but I'm certainly not going big like you are!!! Nice seeing other xj owners builds. A system is my last step with this jeep. Then I tear it apart lol
Thank you! Make a build log when you start with your system! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Will hopefully get some wood and start building in a few weeks. Box design is soon ready, its being a 4th order bandpass.
If I really get the audio itch after I put my small system in I'll post up. The xj is my dedicated off road jeep. I may do something with my wj though.
Hah.. yep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif But now the Jeep is at a friends house for welding.
A small update on the box. Top is finish, and all the plates are cut in right dimensions. Have to mill holes in the baffles, and mount everything together.
Update! Mounted t-nuts in the baffles. Some bracing, and painting. Box is glued & screwed together. The front looks a bit messy on the last photo, but its not finish there. Will also paint the baffles white.. I think? I'm happy so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Time for a update here, lots things have happened.
Removed the carpet, and much rust in the front floor too..
Welded, painted and sound deadner.
Then it was time for a little makeover. Rough Country 3" liftkit, new wheels and tires. Painted bumpers, fenderflares, windows black. White turn/park lamps. Very happy with the new look!
Tight, but it fits. And it sits! Bolted to the floor. 2x8" wood bracing on the walls and packed with foam too the roof and at C pillars.
Mounted a mdf board at the driver side wall. Hertz amp back in and started some wiring.
And some power, Singer Alternators 340A. Fitted with a custom homemade bracket.
Thats it for now. Next I will ran powerwire for the headunit, and make the doors play again. Lots of finish needs to be done. Seal off at the B pillars +++
