MB Quart QSD 216

The Q Signatures are $600-700 street. The QSD 216's are $360ish street.

It really just depends on the kind of sound you like. Each speaker you listed is going to have a different kind of sound. The Quarts are clear and get LOUD, but they are bright and at times harsh. Same goes for the Focals, but not as harsh as the quarts. Rainbow uses a silk tweeter which will be much less harsh. You really just need to listen to some speakers and see what you like.

If it was me, I might try the rainbows (out of that list). I ALMOST bought these, though;

OZ Audio Matrix Elite - $379 - http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4717

Or Also, why not consider Hertz, HSK 165 - http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/schedaProdotto_en.asp?id=4&idcat=8&idprod=38&numid=2&numcat=2&numprod=3 @ $299 Shipped

InfinitePeace -

I was planning on getting a pair of Rainbows...the 265 Profi Vanadium Phase Plugs. But, then my budget got cut down by about $175 due to unforeseen circumstances.

That, and I couldn't really find a place to buy Rainbow speakers. Do you know of a good place or person? And what Rainbows would you recommend in that $325-350 range?

And do you think that the Rainbows from that price range would be better than the Quarts?

Okay, here are my choices:

MB Quart QSD 216 for $350 shipped

Boston Acoustics Pro60 for $275 shipped

Rainbow CMX 265 Power Line for $360 shipped (or CMX 265 Kick for $380)

From these 3-4 options, what would you choose? My brother has always recommended MB Quart and Boston to me as having the best components he's ever heard, but he hasn't really kept up with car audio for about the last 5-10 years.

I won't be doing any competitions; I'm not going to do custom kick panels because my clutch pedal will be in the way. The tweeters will be going either in/on the sail panels or on the doors angled toward the center of the car.

I'm just looking for good sound quality; any of these speakers will probably be more than what I need. What are your opinions? Right now I'm leaning toward the Bostons simply because they are the least expensive and I've had that brand recommended to me by two people I trust.

I own MB Quart QSD 216's and I hate them. not that they're not good speakers, they're clear and loud but extremely harsh to my ears. perhaps if you place them in the kick panels away from your ears they are fine, but if located in the sail panel like they are in mine, even with my -6db setting on the crossover they are too bright. Also the MB Q's with the neo mids put out almost no midbass, pretty pathetic.

for that reason i'm going to get a new set of comps with silk tweeters. If you decide on the mb quarts, I'll probably be selling mine soon, only used like 5 months and hardly even that cause too bright for my ears. lmk if you're interested and i'll give you a price. thx.

yea what he said. I switched to Hertz MLK2's and never looked back. They are a lot less harsh, and a much more natural sounding speaker.
