ok so im not sure how to explain this but ill try.

soon as my amp turns on my subs extends itself outward as much as it can and holds itself there. it will play music will like this and sound just fine. but as soon as i turn the system off it goes back to its regular resting spot. i dont know whats happening or if its suppost to do this but im guessing its not. it makes a weird squelch type of sound right when i turn it on/off also. what is this??????

idk what ohm its wired at (how do you tell) i all four channels of my amp wired to the one sub ( front right pos to pos on sub and rear left neg to neg of sub)

amp is putting out dc current??? how strange...now if i hook my sub up to only one channel then this problem goes away but the squelch when i turn on/off is much longer maybe 2 or 3 seconds instead of the half a second it is now. does this confirm the amp is putting out dc??

Sounds like you possibly have it bridged wrong. Can't say I have ever seen a four channel amp that would allow you to bridge all four channels onto a single coil. You could bridge either the front pair of channels or the rear pair of channels but not all four together. This also depends on what ohm load your sub is. Is it single voice coil or dual voice coil ( one or two sets of positives and negatives). Is it dual 4 ohm, single 4 ohm, or something else altogether. What type of amp and sub do you have? We need to know this stuff to help you out.

try adding a ground to the chassis of the amp...to one of the screws on the bottom....an old school kicker amp use to do this to me.
i will do this thank you, ill let you know

if you have an issue with your equipment then you need to tell us what it is.
sorry, i have a rockford fosgate power 100hd 4 channel amp

and a kicker km10 sub

lol i dont even think he knows
come on man, i mean yeah im new but not totally retarted.....

amps putting out dc voltage and id check your coil.
voice coil?

coil prolly looks fine, like it just got off the grill.
hopefully!

most likely wired wrong, who installed your amp for you?
heres the funny part.....i did, im one of those flat broke do it your-selfers

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too
