Well if all goes well I'll be having a new project truck finding its way to my shop. A 1976 Dodge W200 885. It'll have the 318 motor with a 727 transmission. Dana 44's up front and Dana 60's in the rear. 30,973 ORIGINAL miles!!!!!!! It was an old Army truck which was bought by our local Sheriffs office and will be hopefully gotten by me next. It is either a 3/4 ton or a 1 1/4 ton truck. I'm pretty sure its only a 3/4 though but I'm not positive.

We plan on striping it down to the frame and and replacing anything that needs it. The body is in amazing condition with exception to the tailgate and a little rust on the doors (which is nothing!!) The engine will still turn by hand (didn't have the keys so couldn't start it). Frame appears to be in perfect condition, surface rust but nothing more then that.

Here are some pictures of it...

Truck has been sitting since 2002 so it has seen better days but has a lot of potenial!! I should know by the middle of the week rather I'll have it or not.

Comments are welcome as well as ideas on what to do with it!!

Well got a little bit of work done on the truck. The more we got into it the more amazed we were at what a steal we got. Here are a couple pics...

Not to bad for 1 days work. I got a crap load of other pictures but these give you the general idea. Can't believe how easy this thing came apart. Next to no trouble at all!! We have the cab lose but me and dad couldn't lift it off ourselves so that should come off tomorrow with a little bit of help.

nice truck I had an 85 150 with a slant 6 for awhile
what are your plans for it?

Nice, right now the plans are just to get everything cleaned up and ready to go back together. I'll probably try and find a cheap suspension lift for it. If we keep it it will be used only for heavy duty work and towing the trailer. Its full time 4 wheel drive so I don't even want to guess at what gas mileage will look like. It'll mostly be setup as a work truck though, maybe a little off roading but mostly work. Then again plans change so who knows what will happen.

My family had a 77' GMC for awhile, auto with a 350. Had the all-time AWD too, we got about 8mpg, if that, but it would pull like no other. Can't count how many times we ran out of gas in that thing. There is reason why they made it with two gas tanks lol.

Well had some buddies come over and we got the cab off. Thing was a pain but its off and we're ready to start cleaning up the frame. We also pulled the heads off to find them in perfect condition. We were planning on pulling the motor but after seeing how good of shape everything is in we are just gonna leave it. Hopefully picking up a friends sand blaster either tonight or tomorrow after work and then start cleaning up the frame.

I think we got some more pictures, I'll have to look on the camera and post them if there are any.

Nice find, what size lift and tires ya gonna throw on it?
Nothing huge right off. All really depends on how expensive they are going to be. I'll probably stick with the ones until I have some extra $$ to toss around. Also depends on what I plan on doing with the suspension. I'm looking for some cheap suspension lifts and maybe even throw a small body lift on it. Probably a 4" suspension and a 2" body lift. Its all still in the planning stage so its hard to say. It'll take most of the summer for me to make enough money to start getting stuff so there is a lot of time for plans to change.

Haha, yea. My boss keeps on giving me hell about what gas mileage its gonna get. I'm expecting to see under 10 MPG. Between its being full time 4 wheel drive and geared so wicked low I don't expect much. Then again this will NOT be a daily driver!! She'll come out when the trailer needs to be towed or when I need a some muscle at work.
