New Stereo Integrity Mag / BM Proto Pictures!

I think someone already fielded this question but yes, the BM's and the Mag's are XBL^2 equipped. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
We've got the Mag equipped with a copper anodized pole piece (anodized first and then diamond CNC'd down to the correct diameter), so along with all the benefits that XBL^2 alone offers we got the inductance down to 0.8 mH on the new Mag. Transient response is great - as Jim and Chad will attest, and the low end is better than the current Mag. No joke, the new Mag has more, cleaner, low end output in 1 cube sealed than the current Mag does in 2 cubes sealed.

The BM's have an aluminum shorting ring in the rebate, which lowers the inductance quite a bit over the first FEA analysis.

So both new drivers from SI have shorting rings in them. They are different due to one factor really - cost. We spared very little with the new Mag - hence the copper anodized pole piece instead of a copper sleeve. Copper sleeves have air gaps, where as anodization doesn't. The BM's shorting ring works really well and saves on cost compared to what we did on the Mag. Oh, and for people who are actually reading these pages, another cool thing about the new BM's is that they have a 10" spider on them and a cone glue joint area equivalent to a 5" flat circle. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

In the end both drivers have low inductance, stable BL motors. What that means to you (any customer) is cleaner, tighter, deeper, more consistent bass.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about why I started to post - I think HHawk might be the first person to order a Mag after I open up ordering. There are a lot of people waiting to order, and he's hot on the trail to order a trio of Mag 12's to put in his Lexus. I want a few too, but he might get them before I do!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I have paypal waiting though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

Thanks for more info as well. This seems to me like you spared no R&D and took no short cuts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hmmm...
So ANYWAY, in the real world, the ten inch version should use a smaller box, and should have less displacement. SO...

How would that equal = larger box/footprint?
You could fit 4 10's into the same size box as 4 12's. Why do the 10's when you can have the 12's?

Yes I edited the post because the first version didn't make sense. It should make sense now. If your asking about 10's to "save space" and the box volume requirements are exactly the same as 12's, there is no major benefit. The only benefit to using 10's instead of 12's is the reduction of enclosure height (ie, the surface the subs are mounted to). And just like I pointed out in the post above, when you reduce the height, you increase something else (which is length in my example).

Thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've spent all of my time working on just a 12" version of the new Mag and just a 12" version of the new BM. Hell, I've got over two years worth of work into these things!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

was about to say.... that original post went way over my head, couldn't figure out what you were saying. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

But running 10's does give greater versatility in dimensions and mounting options no matter what way you look at it, if both 10's and 12's require the same airspace.

...thats what I'm thinkin, but I guess if someon doesn't make a ten, then they will always say go with a twelve.

The only reason I would see to create a ten is for competing so u can run 2 tens instead of 1 12 but that's not what this is made for how much smaller of a box do u want besides .5 cubes?

There are many applications where a 10 would be more advantageous than a 12, but this goes back to dimensions. For example, a truck box or under seat box, a box in an SUV with 3rd row seats, or if you wanted to run 3 drivers in a 35" wide box.

Yea I can see were your comin from right now im runnin 2 10" ed sq10's in my work truck but I have enough room to just enlarge the hole for 12" in their..

At least the first Dutch with 3 new Mag's. :p

****, I didn't even know my account still worked on caraudio.com.

...oh and I also remember why I forgot about this account. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I went through a few proto's working on the new Mag. Not as many as people would think though. I spent most of my time in FEA modeling. That way it eliminates making proto after proto after proto.
