First off I am running a jl 300x2 on a set of jl c5 650 comps. Cartunes is installing all this. They just call me and said they are going to put the tweater next to the mid woofer just like jl specs. But they suggested i get another tweeter and install in up on the dash so it will sound better?

Does this make sense guys and should I do it?

It is going in a 2004 neon. Jl recomends the tweets stay with the mids. The dash already has stock crappy speaks up front so another set would just go in.

There are these little stock speakers that are located in the front dash and yes also 6.5 in the front doors. They are saying it might be better to get a high stage and to do that just put in tweets located in the front dash to replace the stock ones.

well, i guess they will be okay in the doors, but not as good as they could be

from looking at pictures of the interior of neons on google (03-04 model), i personally would have them placed on the A-pillars

I agree stockers will be trashed. What they are telling me is that jl recomends I stick the tweets with the mids. I agree with that. What they are telling me is that because my tweets are leg level It would be nice to have some high level highs. So they said they would place the same kind of jl tweets up in the dash to replace the stock ones.

Does this make since guys? What would you do, I just dont want to be fed a line of crap but it does make since

It seems that you are too wrapped up in what JL recommends. Yes, it can be a good idea to put the tweets as close to the mids as possible (with any comps not just JL) but in a lot of cases it's easier to get decent sound by mounting the tweets in the a pillars. I say don't buy an extra set of tweets, just mount them in the a pillars. There are trade offs either way, but I'd personally have them put the one set of tweets up high and be done with it...for now.

Will they already mounted the tweets by the mid woofer. They said it needs more highs up by the ear level. They are trying to get the tweets up on the dash to work properly. Have you guys had any trouble running two sets of tweeters off of one cross over?

It could screw up the crossover frequency. Tell them to forget about the second pair of tweeters and mount the single pair up on the a-pillars.

Yes you are right they told me they are getting alot of crackling sounds from the tweeter running on the same crossover. Now they are saying they are just going to go ahead and install a second pair of crossovers to see if that fixes the problem. Will all this work on my jl 300 x2 amp?
