"sssss" hiss sound in MP3s?

In ALL of my mp3s that I transfered from Cd it appears as though every time the artist makes a 's' sound it's extremely prominent on my stereo. I can tell that it's still there when playing the mp3s on my computer too, so it's not hardware (in my car anyway) It could be encoding on my computer, but I've tried a LOT of different programs with different encoders and settings and it's all the same, the 'ssss' is still over exagerated. And the funny thing is, the original cds don't really have that problem, it's a little prominent, but no more than you hear from another person talking to you. Anyone got any ideas on how to get rid of the mp3 hissing when the artist makes an 'ssssss' sound?

What encoder are you using to rip the MP3s from CD? You should use the lame encoder for MP3 generation as it's the best that I know of.

Do you have an example file you could upload?
