smaller pulley on stock alternator?

depends, it will give you more amps at a lower rpm which would be good, just not sure about the overspinning part. Almost positive that it wont give you more peak output though, pretty sure that has to do with the internals

If you didnt ever run your car to the limiter then it most certainly would work just fine

but I would research your alt b/c I've seen some GM alts that do rated power at ~1500 rpm and not sure if thats what you have?

 
Some after market alts wont do their rated power with the stock pulley on it. They shine with the the smaller pulley so wouldnt a stock alt also

That is the perfect spot to do that. OEM sub may interfere with the new one and cause cancellation.
