SQ HDS3 15" good choice for my amp?

I have a phoenix gold sx1200.1 amp stable for one ohm. I currently have two 12" cvr kickers at 400rms each in a pre fab slot ported box. I have $250 for something better. I was looking at the soundqubed hds3 15" sub. It's 1200rms. Would this sound a lot louder than my 12"s? I want to make a custom box. Is this a good choice or is there a better option for the money? Thanks

it will sound a lot better than your 12s, yes. thats if you put it in the proper enclosure (custom enclosure) those hds3s are pretty good subs. that amp you have will power it really good. what kind of music do you listen to, you like low bass or high bass? those 2 cvr 12s can get pretty loud in a custom box, I know what they are capable of. either way, let me know if you want a custom enclosure designed for you I do them for free. I can do one for your 12s and the hds3 15 if you end up getting it

another good choice for your price range is an SA-15. with that power you have you can be giving it close to double its rated rms ONLY if you know what your doing. and it can potentially be louder than that hds3 15 on its rated rms. the SA 15 goes for 250

Need a box? Or a cutsheet? Pm me.....

From experience, I can tell you right now that 1200W do not do that sub justice and you will be left unsatisfied. I would put that sub on an 1800W amp to truly make it come alive. If you don't have the budget for that now, I recommend sticking with your current setup until you can upgrade both.

You know the difference between 1200 and 1800 is next to nothing?

Hey man where you been hiding?

In terms of actual output? Yes. In terms of how the woofer plays? No. I've actually said this before, getting a bigger amp does much more for SQ than it does for SPL. I've actually done that myself not too long ago. I went from AQ1200 to a 2000W amp. Is it a lot louder? Not really. Does it sound significantly better? Yes.

Should be good a combo, just get the box built right and it should be a solid setup

heres another good choice if not better then the Hds3 15. These will also take just as much is not more power and dont cost to much more. I would go with this over the HDS3-15 not saying the Hds isnt good, just the XFL is alittle better i think.
