Sub in a small box?

I'm building a system to overhaul the Mach 460 system in my 01 mustang convertible and would love to add a sub stage to add a little depth to the sound, not shake windows. My trunk is tiny so the box would be pretty small.

What size sub should i add? I was thinking 1 12" maybe a memphis Mseries DVC or something like this MB Quart http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3415

run it at 200W RMS from the sub channel of a Memphis Baby Belle.

What is the smallest size box i can use?

I was looking at this box. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=3532

Any suggestions?

I heard that the Image Dynamics IDQ is a great small box sub. Otherwise, Sounsplinter RL-i's are small box subs also. and if you don't have a lot of space, I would build the box yourself. or have someone on here build it.

Boston G2 sub, 1cft sealed enclosure. 300W power handling, Great SQ. The G2 10" will mount into a 1/2 cft sealed.
will a single 10" give me enough uuumph? I'm new at this. I'm pairing them with some PG RSD65cs comps.

I'm also on a budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Looking to spend no more than 120 on a sub or 180 with a box.

I would get a Boston G5 10"... I had it in .7cuft running on 300w RMS (would easily take 700w RMS!) sounded AMAZING ... easily kept up w/ my cdt cf ef 6.5" I was running the G5 @ 4ohm on a big Belle(300w)

I'd get a dimya 12. Optimal box is only 1/2 a cube, for some extra low-end, use a full cube, studily low space requirements for a 12inch sub. 20mm of xmax so it's got some good throw to it as a well. It's built as a SQ woofer, so output isn't amazing, but still better than alot of 10inch woofers, and probably better than alot of 12's that would end up cramped in that airspace. SQ is apparently very good, considering the designer I can't imagine it to be anything less than amazing. For $117 it's nearly impossible to beat, especially if you want a sub to fit in a small box.

That MBQ woofer in the OP would do the job just fine for a budget woofer. However, I would try to get more than 200w to it.

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
