I had read a lot of threads on "how much woult it take?".//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Every manufacturer says how many watts to power their product, so why would you like to run say 1000w rms to a 600w rms rated sub?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Did I missed something?, 'cause I don't see why would you put more power than recommended, since they suggest that amount for some reason.

Then when the sub blows, you say is garbage and that it can't handle the power, well it wasn't designed to.

Will like to hear some thoughts on this.

My Diamond M6 sounded like poo at rated power. No idea why they would have rated it so low //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Most of the time They rate low to cover them when somethign happens. Kicker rates there l7 12 at around 600 and i give it almost 1000 daily.

cuz the rms for a speaker is AVERAGE and doesn't have to take that all day long it can take higher if the speaker is built well and has a big voice coil, bigger voice coil= sub can handle more power.

The companies put very low rms ratings because there are a lot of remedial mf'ers out there that would end up messing something up and wanting a new sub. So they make the rms's VERY CONSERVATIVE so that the sub will last longer.

even polecat (i realize it's probably more than one person) said they were running 2 12" L7's with a 2500D for a daily with no problems
close...L5's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

each company puts a 'conservative' RMS and max power.....but 99.9% of the people will push all products to it's limits..hence why competitors run at 16v-18v and run amps to .35 mono...to get max power....for daily, does it need it, no...but if competing, then most will. But honestly, if you run what the manufacture reccomends, you usually will never see equipment failure.

This is defenitely the case here.

Most subwoofers can handle more power if they are not pushed past mechanical limits.

Putting subs on an amp that is rated over recommended RMS is NOT the same thing as running that much to the subs.

Many people think that hooking up a sub rated at 500rms to a 1000wrms amp means that the sub will see much more than 500rms while listening to it and that is not the case at all.

Can you explain that?....I don't get it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Nice comments, keep it coming.

There is a thing called a volume knob. This knob controls how loud the stereo is played.

Think about this logically:

Does your "1000watt" amp put out full power when your volume knob is at 1 out of 50?

Think about how speakers work before answering this question.
