Can an OEM Radio handle 8 ohms?

I put the panel back on, sat in the passenger seat to test my work and the spring broke on the driver side rear. So I jacked up the one side to remove the strut/spring assembly so when I ordered a new one i could pop it in quickly. Then the other side broke in the same way. I have had to do the same thing on our 01 GTP Grand Prix so its simple to fix but hooing up tweeters cost me 260$ because of the strut/spring assembly.
