OK, I have been doing car audio for 13 years and I have to ask my once in a lifetime stupid question. What is an ABC box? All the sudden its all over the forum and I have never heard these before.

Dual chamber/ported enclosure.

The chamber where the sub is, is exactly 2 times bigger than the empty chamber. 3 ports, 2 firing out and one connecting the sub chamber to the empty chamber. Whatever the sub chamber is tuned at, the empty is one octave higher than it. (ie: sub chamber is 30Hz, empty will theoritically be 60Hz).

What are the pros and cons.

pros?

limits excursion, good for dinky drivers

flatter response over a larger frequency area

cons?

harder to design and build

not one bit louder than a standard ported design

much larger than a standard ported design

ABC is a made up name, its correct name is a DCR (dual chambered reflex)

Not really a worthwhile build, especially if you are using a driver with an XBL^2 motor. It's only my opinion though, some people like them.
