Client came to us looking for an upgrade from his factory Bose system. Wanted something with a little more volume but more importantly better definition, balance, and overall output quality. After some consultation we decided on product that would work best for him to achieve his goals; he sourced the product and we got to work.

There were a few necessities that the client wanted that made this vehicle, with the product chosen, a little more difficult including full access to his spare tire.

First we ran the power and ground right to the battery and make our speaker output harness. Everything was wrapped in cloth tape to match the factory wire packs and appear factory. I soldered our connections at the factory amplifier plug and heat shrunk out connections and the bare ends from the output side of the amplifier.

Next I utilized the factory speaker plugs for the 8" mid-bass/subwoofer in the door and modified them to connect to the driver we were using.

Took the factory tweeters out of the dash and replaced them with the Hertz Mille 28mm tweeter securing them to the car with an ABS adapter made as a direct replacement for the factory.

Moving onto the doors. The factory Bose 8" was replaced with the Hertz Mille 7" mid-bass driver. Great extension to limit any loss in mid-range due to no dedicated mid-range long with bringing the bass produced by the subwoofer forward with exceptional mid-bass response. Again the speaker adapter was one-off to match the factory piece and bolt directly to the door using existing hardware. The spacer was just under 3" and made of HDPE to ensure a lifetime of durability.

Now for those not familiar with this vehicle it uses a MOST fiber optic network to transmit the audio signal through the vehicle. Instead of catching the signal AFTER the factory amplifier, summing the channels, de-equalizing it, etc. etc., we used the DMI to take the MOST signal and convert it into a TOSLINK optical output. The TOSLINK optical lead went straight into the Bit Ten D processor and from there was transmitted into the amplifier. The amplifier the client chose was the Audison Voce 5.1K with the adapter to use what's called AC and AD link. It's a digital communication between the processor and the amplifier, no RCAs.

Due to the client wanting full access to the spare tire we had to get creative with the amplifier mounting (it is a big amplifier). We created a piece that sits over the amplifier but can still be removed and the factory floor operates like normal. It can be lifted up and secured while accessing the spare. All the wiring remains in place. The trunk pieces were finished in a black carpet to match the trunk and the inserts were done in a high-gloss black to match the vehicle itself.

Finally we mounted the controller for the processor (DRC) in the center console where the car phone would be if so equipped. Made the panel in which the DRC sits with a slight camfer/bevel around the piece. It was wrapped in a black vinyl for an OEM appearance. The client also wanted an AUX input so he could easily play his Android device as we added a flush mount piece.
