Back in January one day my w505 stopped working properly. It would turn on fine but just be stuck on the FM tuner screen. If i pressed any button or anywhere on the touch screen, it would just beep (the same beep that happens when you press a button normally) but not do anything. It is stuck on volume 0 (Amp turns on)

I called up Alpine and explained the problem and they said to send it in and they will fix it for $105 flat fee. I sent it back a few weeks ago and got it back yesterday. The Service Repair Order says it fixed some circuits and what not.

Installed it this morning, same problem (do they not test before sending it back out??? wtf????). Went to 2 shops to see if they have seen this problem and asked what i should do. Neither know whats wrong and say to either send it back to alpine again, or ***** and moan to them and get the $105 back because they didnt fix anything and get a new radio. Both shops also said the same thing, the Alpine product is great but they never get the repairs right and the radios are never the same after, and both hate dealing with Alpine for warranty work.

Has anyone seen this problem? Possible fixes?

Recommendations on other double dins? needs to have at least 4v preouts, fast/high speed ipod access, Sirius, preferably support a usb stick with mp3s on it... navi is not important to me

Sorry to hear this. I had issues a while back with optical out and cd transport on my w200 and they fixed it right up with no problem.

I would send it back and tell them to fix it again

Yea i am going to send it back i guess and have them fix it.

I just bought a Kenwood DDX896 from my local shop, it is a much better unit..sounds better, a ton of audio adjustments and it actually works.
