I am bit new to the car audio game and came across a great setup for $300. Im hoping you can guide to to making what I have sound its best and what else I may need to purchase.

Amplifier: Alpine MRX-M110

Subwoofers: Alpine SWR-12D2 X2

Door speakers: Alpine Type-R SPR-68 5x7

Im looking to get my door speakers hooked up to an amp so I know would need an additional 4 channel if anyone has any good recommendations? Im also clueless when it comes to what to tune the amplifier to these subs, gain lpf ect. It slaps hard but just doesn't sound right how it currently is setup. Any help, recommendations or suggestions is much appreciated!

How do you have it set up? What kind of enclosure and what is the amp set to?

It’s a ported bbox that was tuned. The amp settings are all fucked up.

Gain 70% to max, subsonic is at 20 out of 30hz, lp filter is at 100 hz, Bass Eq +10Db @ThxOne

Ok... The gain is too high, Turn it ALL the way down!!! Turn the bass eq all the way down or off. LP Filter is fine and can be played with later to suit your taste. If you have "Loudness" on your head unit, turn it off. If you have a bass boost on your head unit, turn it off or to zero. Your eq on your head unit, make it flat for now. Ok, get ready to play some music. A 40 or 50hz test track will work best but not necessary just this instance. Play a song you know very well, turn the volume up on the head unit to a level you would normally listen to it at. While it is playing at that volume, with a flat eq and no bass boost of any kind or loudness... oh, if you have a bass knob, disconnect it... ok, music is playing loud, now adjust the gain on your sub amp slowly until the bass is where you like it and it is not distorting. You are good for now. Turn the radio down, hook up the remote gain knob if you use one, adjust the head units EQ where you like it... now try some music. This should get you by until you can adjust it more accurately later or after you amplify your door speakers.

yeah set ss filter to 30hz if thats as high as it'll go because that box is tuned close to 40hz.. gain probably end up 40-50% depending on how many pre amp volts u have., set gain with hu at a certain level like 30 of 35 (or whatever it goes to don't turn it all the way up distortion creeps in maxing thing out) lp 60-100hz.. look at zapco 2 or 4 channel amps, pioneer has a good 4 channel too just tested to do more than rated power..

Also... how is the subwoofer wired? I am sure it's a dual 2 ohm voice coil. if it is wire to 1 ohm, the amp may not like it. My M100 and M110 didn't like 1 ohm but were fine with 2 and 4 ohm.

The subs are wired parallel to I believe 1 or 2 ohms need to check on that to be sure.

Great answer thanks will try that out.

Personally, I would wire both subs to 4 ohms each then together down to 2 ohms final impedance. That Alpine amp will love that.

How would I go about that? I’m going to test my ohms and set it all up now
