You dont have too much power at all. You have too little.
Guess why you are burning up voice coils and not breaking any spiders or surrounds or tinsel leads?Beacause you are clipping your amp !When you turn your gains up like that,
you let too much input current into the amp, the signal is
chopped at the top and bottom of the wave and it is overheating
your voice coils, even though it still sounds under its dynamic
compression threshold.You need more power,you should be able to push about 6 or 700 probably more into those drivers
sealed all the time and they will last for years.I had one 12"
rockford fosgate he2 on a 1200 watt jbl powervalve in a 1.25
box for about a year and a half with no problems.This is well
over its rms rating.However, my gains were set properly and
I didnt go crazy with that 40hz bass boost ********.Get a big
ol class d poweramp and it will fix this problem .Your speakers
can take it in a properly sized enclosure for years.
