How do You Know When Your Subs Are Broken In?

Because I dont like testing the full potential on a brand new sub untill it has gotten used a little bit and loosened up.

Like breaking in an engine, you're not suppost to get near full throttle for a good 500 miles, but after that you can hammer down.

Just Curious...is there an audible difference or what?
Yes and no..

It will depend on the specific model of the sub and the type of enclosure. Some subs have no audible difference over time while other models will seem to deepen and have higher sensitivity over time.

These audible differences mostly happen in sealed applications while vented applications seem to show little to no audible difference over time.

i think it is a myth that your subs will play louder when "broken in"...ive had my xxx for almost a year and i cant tell a difference.
its still stiff as ****.
Driver break in isn't a myth; just depends on the driver at hand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Some suspensions loosen up with play, some don't.

The only myth here is to "take it easy" with a new driver to let it break in - it'll break in naturally over the course of regular use, and the only thing you're doing by not playing it at regular volumes is extending the break in period.

ya all the drivers i have used (even the infinity kappa 3.5") i have noticed a change in the sound. The "bass" is much more punchy, and clear.

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well...

Look at the Alpine Type S subs.
