Hey guys so I finally got a 2005 Mercury Montego. I've got the Image Dynamic CTX65CS component speakers and a Cadence DCA-4100 to push them. According to crutchfield, my stock door speaker openings are 6x8. Will the adapter posted below work for my ID components? Also, will the amp kit i chose (posted below) work well too? If you guys have any other reccomendations please let me know. Also, If im missing anything that i'll need for installation please let me know. I will be ordering my headunit here within the next few days and I'll be sure I'll have a zillion more questions once I start tearing apart the car. thanks so much everyone.

ok ive had some dynamat for the door speakers sitting around so im gonna throw it on as well. I'm thinkin about doing tiles in the trunk when i get my sub. would a 2 channel amp kit work cause i'm really only using two channels of my cadence dca-4100, correct?

You'll actually be using 4 channel (1 channel/speaker). You could use a 2 channel amp kit, if you were to bridge the amp. The only difference between 2 and 4 channel amp kits are the RCA interconnects.

not with components.
could you explain?

and is the piece posted below neccessary for installation? Will it let me use the controls on the steering wheel with my aftermarket headunit installed?

also, i'm confused as to what harnesses i need. as of now i've ordered the 4 channel amp kit and the mounting brackets for my speakers. do i need wiring harnesses for my speakers and a wiring harness along with a radio mounting bracket for my headunit?

As far as I can tell the amp kit will work just fine with the amp you are getting. You will want to get another set of RCA to run from the HU to the amp. If you have only 1 set of RCA you will be running only 2 channels.

Also for getting your steering wheel controls to work, the following will be needed

http://pac-audio.com/Products.aspx?CategoryId=29 depending on what brand of HU you decide on. You will need on wiring harness to integrate into the power and ignition for the HU and one those brand specific harness to integrate the steering wheel controls.

I live in Noblesville. I will be gone until next week, but hit me up if you any help.

That kit looks like everything needed for a 4 channel amp. As far as a harness for the HU you will need http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120705520/Receiver-Wire-Harness.html , any Best Buy or Ovation should carry them.

If you want the steering wheel controls to work you will need one of these http://pac-audio.com/Products.aspx?CategoryId=29 it all depends on the brand of the HU you are installing in your car. You will also need an install kit http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120995807/Ford-In-dash-Receiver-Kit.html again, Best Buy should have one in stock. Let me know if you need help.

Speaker harnesses would make it whole lot less of a hassle to do. The stores already mentioned would have them. The thing is, when you go to hook up the speakers to the amp-a short cut is to attach them to the harness you plug into the factory plug. This will save you many hrs of frustration and save your throat from yelling all day and trying to run speaker wire into your doors.

i ordered my headunit offline and i chose the Alpine IDA-X305 as I'm going to be using my ipod when listening to music. I also got the harness for my headunit. I will be sure to start a log when I start tearin things apart and hookin everything up!

now i need some help choosing my sub guys. I listen to a lot of rap so I'd like it to be loud but sound good at the same time. below are the options i've been thinking about. let me know what you guys thinks looks best for me.

1) 1 15" Incriminator Audio Flatlyne

2) 1 15" RD Alpha V3

3) ??

I will be having a custom box made to specifications in order to be best suited for whatever sub i choose. I'd like my box to be no bigger than 3.5 cubes and I'm for sure wanting to go ported. As for an amp, i'm choosing between the Elemental Designs nine.1, Cadence ia7, or sundown SAZ-1000d. Let me know what you guys think, thanks so much, austin.

There are a couple that SMD has tested, around $20.00 that should take the wattage from most any HU. If you are tapping into the speaker wires...
