So one of my rear alpine type R 6.5" speakers has a strange noise at only 1 frequency. For those of you who like Gucci mane in the song "Party in the trap" when the bass get's high pitched the speaker makes a ripping sound, only when the volume is maxed before distortion. It is only in 1 out of 4 of the exact same speaker. No other song does it at any level.

was it doing it before on that note or you just noticed it? could be a faulty speaker, blown speakers generally make a weird noise on high bass notes.

I haven't taken it out, the rear deck of my 98' sentra is a bit of a pain to get to if I don't have too. I had just loaded up that song on my flash drive and went to see how to bass sounded on it. Polarity is fine I just double checked it. Wiring is a bit sketchy because, on that particular speaker I didn't realize crutchfield sent wiring harnesses with it; so I had stripped the wire and just wrapped it around. I was going to put a set of connectors on it but haven't found the time just yet. Could that be causing it? Factory Speaker wire btw.

Yes, that could be causing it. If you have a wire that is not making 100% good contact, certain frequencies may vibrate the wire loose and cause a distortion sound. I would start with crimping on the proper harness/connectors for a solid connection to the speaker. If the problem goes away, you know that was the culprit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yes. Only thing is the leads will be encased in resin. Keep in mind that this is an assumption.

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.

Speaker ratings are generally a thermal/mechanical limitation of the drivers. Music is dynamic, not continuous. During quiet periods a song, you...
