i have the 12" L7 and im planning on powering it with a mrp m1000 amp. its a two ohm sub but im deathly afraid of blowing it by pushing out 1000 watts on it. should i try to wire the sub to be 4 ohms so it only gets 600 watts?
I saw that as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gifWhat??? Powering it with a sub?
so i'd be fine wiring it at 4 ohms to only getting 600 watts? i like to crank my sub somewhat often and im just worried cause this is the same amp that blew a pair of subs that could have handled around the same amount as the L7A 12" L7 is rated for 750 watts RMS. Also you stated them sub as a dual 2 voice coil so your either gonna wire it 4 ohm or 1 ohm. That amp is only 2 ohm stable so you can only use that amp and wire at 4 ohm. I will tell you this though, a 12 L7 can handle 1000-1200 rms clean power. So my suggestion to you is choose a different amp. You can find alot of amps in that same price range that will do the power I mentioned above @ 1 ohm. Hope this helps bud!
This. You blew the other subs by clipping the the signal due to not having your amp set properly. Make sure you read up on that before repeating.Yeah that would be fine, under powered but fine. Ive never heard of anyone blowing a sub by under powering it.
