Looking for budget sub's.Possible for $300

I listen to rap music, and would like to buy 2 subs. I will be making a ported box and using 2 12" subs. I don't want to spend money on buying an alternator etc. I only have 95amp alternator. so I want the subs to be around 400 to 500 watts each.

Is it possible to buy 2 12" subs for a total of $300. Kicker cvrs look about what I'm looking for,but im sure somebody will say they **** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A couple of last generation Alpine Type-R subwoofers (1243/1223) could work nicely on your budget and power. Though, I, personally being driven by more utilitarian concerns, would refrain from using so many cubes of trunk space just for sub stage. One interesting compromise could be to run 800-1000watts to a single high performance subwoofer, such as the 2012 Alpine Type-R, Sundown SA-12, or maybe Image Dynamics IDMAX.

I will measure tomorrow for sure. I need to head to bed now . My truck is a 99 ford ranger ext cab.

get with rangerdanger and see if he has some box plans that would suit a pair of Sundown E15's in your truck...what you may lack in power, can be made up for in cone area...and in the right box, will get loud.

What amp are you using in particular? some amps say they do 1000w, but only do 500rms, and some say they only do 1000w and do 1800w rms..

$300 for just subs is a decent budget actually. You can get 2 decent subs or one larger nice sub. Which ever way you go should have a pretty good result in a ext cab truck.

I wouldn't mind buying a Sundown audio sa-15, but I don't know if i the 15 would be just at musical at all. Seems like the 15 would be crazy low, but Just a big bump bump bump. I don't really know what I mean, but seems like the 15 would be slow when its bumps, then it would wait a second then bump again.

Just measured my truck and approximately i have this size for subwoofer box. 45 width x 14" depth x and 21 High.

I have a KDC-X595 in the truck now, am using a kicker amp "not sure what amp it is, but uses 200 watts " for a pair of alpine 6x9's.. NO subs rite now.

The amp I am wanting to buy is the HIFONICS BRUTUS BRZ1200.1D amp. Looks good for the price, and want to use around 900 watts in a 2ohm load.
