music stops playing loud after a while

I could really use some help here with my component speakers in my car. The problem i am running into is after playing my music up real loud for a while the music volume start to drop and i am not really sure what the problem is. The component speakers i have are the illusion audio luccent l6 component speakers which are being power off a newer model alpine pdx f6 4 channel amp in 3 way active mode off a pioneer deh-80prs head unit with only quarter of the gain up on the amp for the mid's and i have the gain for the tweeters turn up about a hair.

run a volt meter in the car (like one that plugs into the cig lighter socket) and monitor voltage. as voltage drops the music will get quieter.

also, amps will turn down the output if they get hot (or just shut off). where is the amp mounted? is it getting hot?

What vehicle? I'd be surprised if a mids/highs amp strained your electrical system that much, but stranger things have happened.

If you have a Honda or GM, it may be PCM controlled. Basically, it stops exciting your alternator when cruising to save gas. If your voltage drops a bunch when the alt kicks off, you could be hearing that.

Just a wild guess

Does this occur during driving or key off? Do your lights dim at all?

I vote for the big 3 to be done.

i do not know if the voltage meter on my pioneer deh-80prs is a true reading but my voltage stays between 14.2 - 14.4 at all times and some times it may drop down to 13.6v for a few sec but that never happens very much. as fare as the amp

geting hot no it just gets warm.
